Things You Don't Need
As the summer is upon us, there are many families who plan to travel for vacations. When packing the vehicle with suitcases and coolers, it can be easy to pack things that aren't needed for the trip. Extra stuff that takes up precious space may not be helpful.
As we make the journey through life, there may be extra stuff in your trunk that is not needed for the trip. It takes up space in a busy life and clutters the mind. Here are four things you probably don't need.
Misinterpretation: It is easy to misinterpret what someone says. It's common for us to take what people say personally. Not everything is a personal attack. Sometimes they are just having a bad day.
Over generalization: “Nobody ever wants go out with me,” when only person said no. “This always happens to me.” “This is the story of my life.” It's probably not.
Obligation: “Do I have to?” Instead of viewing things as obligations, they could be viewed as privileges: “I get to do this!”
Disqualification: When someone pays you a compliment, you may be tempted to disqualify yourself: “Naw, they didn't mean it.” “I'm too old.” “I'm too young.” Instead if self-disqualification, try self-qualification: “I have a shot at this!”
When we relieve ourselves of these burdens the journey is much more enjoyable!
“Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12:1
