I believe it's very important to give back to the community and my staff have expressed an interest in this as well. Over the years, we have supported the charity “Dress for Success” in attending fundraising events, clothing and service/product donations. We are currently organizing a monthly service commitment donation for women heading to a job interview. A fresh Color, cut and style could be instrumental for her self confidence as she readies herself to join the workforce. I would like to take this time to educate you on this meaningful charity.
Dress for Success' mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the developmental tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
Founded in New York in 1997, Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization offering services designed to help clients find jobs and remain employed. We have served more than 1,000,000 women Internationally. Each Dress for Success client receives one outfit when she has a job interview and can return for additional outfits when she finds work.
In Red Deer, Dress for Success started operations in 2008. We have an active volunteer Board of Directors. We also have a network of Volunteers who are invaluable to our operation. We serve clients by referral only and they come to us from a continually expanding and diverse group of non-profit and government agencies including homeless shelters, immigration services, job training programs, educational institutions and domestic violence shelters and many more. So far this year, we have doubled the amount of women we served in all of last year! On her initial visit, a woman receives an outfit appropriate for the industry in which she is interviewing. These ladies are encouraged to return for their Employment suiting which consists of 5 mix and match outfits to help her establish her new wardrobe. We provide these ladies, in addition to their clothing, with as much as we can in the way of foundation garments, accessories and shoes.
Dress for Success relies on financial donations, in-kind donations and volunteer efforts of the individuals and companies within our community who are committed to helping women take charge of their lives.
Tangles staff, as I said previously, have been involved with the Red Deer chapter for more than 10 years. We attend lovely fundraising events, donate silent auction items, clothing donations and occasionally a make over for a candidate. Our Staff have recently expressed a real interest in giving back to the community on a regular basis. We discussed many possibilities but really feel led towards this organization because of our skill set. We are in the beauty industry, the business of first impressions. In a competitive business community, appearance and first impressions are very important. I can't think of anything that boosts a woman's confidence more than a great Color and cut! We are prepared to donate monthly, a fresh new make over for one lady, on her way up!

We are always appreciative of donations of gently used clothing, shoes, accessories and jewelry. Financial donations are gratefully accepted; meeting our financial obligations continues to be a struggle for us.

Join us for a fun filled afternoon of food, beverages, door prizes and silent auction. Dress in your Kentucky Derby attire whilst we enjoy the “horse races”.
