Spring is a great time to start planning your outdoor renovations. It is time to start building the deck you want. You've watched all the shows on TV this winter…you have some great ideas on what you want…now to just do it! Your new deck will add value to your home and enjoyment for the family this summer. All that is required is a bit of carpentry skill, a plan and the right tools to get the job done.

Using the Circular Saw is available in 8 ¼” or 10”. Equipped with a sharp blade these saws will cut through lumber with ease and precision. A 40-tooth carbide-tipped circular saw blade cuts rough lumber with ease and produces a fine, splinter-free edge.

The Jigsaw may be required if you are cutting rounded edges on your new deck. The Bosch Jigsaw is heavy duty and perfect for the job. Make sure you purchase several jigsaw blades because they break easily. When building your deck always use medium or heavy-duty blades, designed to cut through 2* material.

The 10” Table saw and the 10” Mitre Saw will come in very handy for when building a deck. The table saw will help you with any long straight cuts that are required for your design. The 10” Mitre saw will cut perfect 45 degree angles every time.

The Impact Drill or Hammer Drill allows you to drive lag screws or deck screws while preventing stripped screw heads. The multiple impacts aid in driving the screw deeply, with minimal torque to your hand and wrist that can happen with a regular drill.

Other basic tools include a tape measure, hammer, chalk line, level, and combination square. From there it is a good idea to have a posthole auger if you are putting pylons in and a concrete mixer.
