The Time is Now
Procrastination. It's when you know something has to be done; but, it gets put off until later. A phone call to family, cleaning the garage, or painting the fence. It's so easy to leave things until “later.” Regrettably, later never comes and the time slips away like sand through your fingers.
In 520 BC, the Jews returned to Judah to begin the work of rebuilding the temple that had been destroyed by the Babylonians. For eighteen years, the people continued to procrastinate and did not build. Haggai woke the people from their lack of motivation and encouraged them to begin.
How many unfinished projects, phone calls, and even books could be completed if you just began? When an idea comes to your mind, instead of saying, “Later,” immediately begin. Whether it's a phone call to a friend or an unfinished project, the time is now. A more convenient time may never come for you.
If unfinished chores should be started now, how about your personal well-being? When was the last time you did something to help you relieve stress like taking a relaxing walk or indulging in your favorite hobby? The time is now.
I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2
