We have had what feels like one of the warmest & wettest summers in recent memory. What affect has the summer weather had on your vehicle?
- The A/C has been running full out most of the summer. Most vehicles have a Cabin Air Filter we should check or replace.
- Antifreeze: many vehicles with “Long Life” coolant that needs to be serviced @ 192,000 Km or 7 years or Sooner.
- Transmission fluids have been worked hard during the heat or perhaps towing trailers (service schedules vary widely from 48,000 Km or 3 years and up) Similar intervals for transfer case & Differential fluids
Stop in, give us a call or drop us a note, we would be happy to provide you with Factory recommended service intervals for the vehicle you drive.
This month's tip: Drive Line Fluids.
No matter what you drive, the transmission, Transfer case and differentials in your vehicle are all equipped with some type of “Breather System” this allows air to flow in and out of the case as the fluids & components heat & Cool during regular use. The vent is protected by a small cap or check valve, however, with the wet year we have experienced, driving where even 1/3rd of the tire is submerged can result in water being pulled into the system… Contaminated fluids cannot protect, moving parts and will soon result in rusting & other damage. If you encountered heavy rain or mud. Be sure to have your drive line checked for water contamination. It will make most oils look grey, pink or creamy with the consistence of a warm milk shake.
We offer maintenance & full system Diagnostics & Repair on more than 30 makes of Domestic, Asian and European Vehicles. Both Gas and Diesel. Factory Approved Maintenance & Programming.
