Eating Healthy on the Road
Trying to eat healthy while traveling can be one of the greatest challenges.
Before you leave, try to decide what foods will be a big “no-no” during your trip. When you make that decision ahead of time, you will avoid the stressful mental games when “bad” foods are present.
Always prioritize hotels that offer a fridge in the room. This encourages healthier choices. It also saves money by allowing you to bring your own breakfast, lunch and/or snack foods.
Take advantages of Apps like Google Maps to see how close hotels are to surrounding grocery stores and markets.
Some hotels offer hard-boiled eggs and fruit for breakfast. You can use these foods for snacks during your trip.
You can use a cooler with gel ice packs to keep food cold during your trip.
Also, bring a few travel-friendly accessories like forks, plates, knives, and napkins. These will allow you to prepare and eat your food. Don't forget your supplements, such as multi-vitamins, magnesium or probiotics. Also, remember to take bags of your favorite tea or coffee you like to drink in the morning. This is very important in order to maintain a semi-normal routine on the road, which is crucial to overall health.
PLAN AHEAD. While it's easy to say, it's harder to implement. Planning ahead is an important and
essential way of overcoming unhealthy eating choices while traveling.
