Akhanda Yoga
Akhanda means indivisible, unbroken tradition, entire, and whole. Akhanda Yoga classes offer a holistic approach to yoga emphasizing a balance of asana (physical postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), mantra chanting, meditation, and yoga philosophy. The concept of the balanced class not only includes the balancing of all directional movements of the spine, but the balance of effort and allowing, of yin and yang. Students are encouraged to be aware of checkpoints, and to explore how the posture feels and manifests in their body during any given yoga experience. In particular Akhanda Yoga is identifiable in its joyful and compassionate nature. During challenging postures, students are encouraged to smile or find their inner smile, thus making non-competition and contentment true aspects of the practice.
