WHAT IS THE BEST TIRE DRESSING?
As a professional, I am often asked what is the best tire dressing. Not only are there several choices of tire dressings, but we are also faced with determining what the pros and cons of tire dressings are in the first place.
This month, we have been approached to take care of Interior Odor Issues by numerous clients. High humidity in tandem with warm sunny days sometimes translates into a great environment for mold, mildew and bacterial growth.
Whether it be something as simple as a window left open during a rainstorm, a beverage spill (milk can be absolutely wicked if left unattended), a new vehicle to you that was smoked in or something more harmful such as a forgotten package of meat from the grocery store, odor is a significant warning sign for you to get this taken care of – as soon as you can!
What steps should I take?
- Try and identify what's causing the issue. If you are comfortable with it and it is safe, remove the problem from your vehicle.
- If it is safe to do so and you have the knowledge, handle the problem...but remember, Google-ing can sometimes cause you more problems than it solves. Call our office anytime if you have something you are not sure about.
- Open the vehicle up to air out – nature is a wonderful helper on a hot, sunny day.
- Call a professional and explain what is going on. Make sure they know how to properly manage this and you are comfortable with their handling of the call and the knowledge they share with you sits well with you.
- At our shop, we go through a multi-step process to listen to your concerns, talk through how we would handle things and set up an appointment for viewing. Often times, if it appears serious enough, our first step will be to ask you if you have initiated an insurance claim should it end up being a serious issue. We do not want to be alarmists, but we do want to ensure everything is in place for your benefit and protection.
- The vehicle should be brought in for an assessment and all concerns documented. This may entail taking pictures of the problem area, understanding to the best of your knowledge what has caused the problem and a step by step presentation of the solution for you.
- If need be, your insurance provider should be a informed of the steps being taken. At our shop, we handle the documentation, billing and follow up for you.
- Your vehicle needs to be properly cleaned, sanitized, deodorized and reconditioned to the level it was before the problem happened.
- Another level of conditioning such as ozone or ionize treatment may need to happen.
- On occasion, we need to replace your cabin filter as a final step in this process.
- You need to be satisfied with the outcome. On some occasions which are severe, 100% success may not be achievable. You need to be informed of that – up front.
At Auto Spa of Saskatoon, it is our goal to always do everything we are able to assist our clients. If you have anything of concern with your cars appearance – or smell - please do not hesitate to get in touch!
All the best! ~Dean
