What are the benefits of Neurologic Music Therapy at Next Step?
Music is physical, and without the “doing” part, like playing on instruments or singing it cannot take place.
Music is social and people are drawn together through making music, it is there in times of joy and times of sadness.
Music Therapy focuses on neurologic development, it enables the brain to adapt and change. It promotes and develops cognitive, speech/language and sensory motor skills.
Music Therapy is a psychological process. Self-awareness, creativity or self-expression can be facilitated within a musical framework.
Music Therapy is emotional. The quote “where words fail, music speaks” describes that music can speak or communicate for us, when we are not able to.
