HOUSING & AFFORDABILITY

In October, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) issued its first “red alert” for the housing market in Canada – meaning that trouble could be on the horizon. Not long before, the Minister of Finance made changes to the qualification rules for homebuyers – which included making sure that the buyer's budget could handle the average 5 year residential rates published by the Bank of Canada and not just the actual discounted rates offered by

the lenders.

It's into these economic circumstances that I am pleased to announce the launch of my book The Debt- Free Lifestyle. It is all about housing and affordability and how to make choices that will help you own your home, pay it off faster and still be able to save for a comfortable retirement. Seem like an impossible dream? I'll show you how my husband and I are doing it – on a salary that began near the Canadian median. The book also looks at crucial questions like: What will happen when interest rates rise? Is the home that you purchase today one you can comfortably afford tomorrow?

Is the interest you are paying on your mortgage hurting your ability to save for a comfortable retirement?  Let me show you what you can do about it!

The book is available now for pre-order through Chapters/Indigo and will be in stores the third week of November.
