And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night....  Genesis 1:16

Heaven's Reflection

Sometimes people feel that they don't have a lot to offer.  I've felt that way sometimes.  Maybe you have too.  It may feel as though you don't have the time, talent, or treasure to give.  When these feelings of self-doubt arise, think about the moon.

The moon?  Yes, the moon.  The moon doesn't have a lot of colour.  It doesn't have its own source of light.  It is impossible for the moon to emit light; however, the darkest night can be illuminated by the moon.  How?

Although the moon does not emit light, it reflects the light from the sun.  It provides a reflection from a source that emits light.  When you examine a full moon on a dark, clear night you can see it does a great job, too.

Like the moon, you can reflect light even when you don't seem to be able to emit light.  When you are tired and feel like you have nothing to give, find a source to draw upon.  A good book, a community of faith, or an uplifting friend can all be a things from which you can get 'light' and reflect it back again to those around you.

It doesn't have to always be all about what you can come up with on your own.  Sometimes you need to find something to shine on you so you have a light to reflect to others.
