Medicine Hat automobile service- Ralph Garnett

Well most of us have experienced our first snowfall of the season. I'm thankful I got the winter tires installed on my daughter's car before a trip to Edmonton on the long weekend. If you haven't had a chance to install your winter tires yet, “Remember, we do Tire Mount, Balance & Rotation as well as flat repairs” in our drive through bays.

With winter comes much longer nights, soon we will be driving to work & home again in the dark. For your safety, it is just as important to be seen as it is to see… Marker lights, turn signals, brake lights as well as the High Mount Brake light are critical. With increased stopping distance & reduced visibility the driver following you needs to know what you are doing to avoid a collision. We need to be diligent and check that they are working regularly as well as take the time to clear snow before driving.

With lights, defrost, seat & mirror heaters as well as starting in cold temperatures, the load on your electrical system will cause extra load on your accessory drive belts. Checking the belt, pulleys & tensioner assembly & servicing regularly will prevent other wear & damage.

This month's tip: Headlights many vehicles have headlights with a synthetic plastic cover, while they are very resilient to impact damage, they are susceptible to fogging or hazing over time. Sometimes replacement is the only option, but most can be repaired or restored to like new condition while you are having other service work completed.
