Is Gel better for you than Acrylic?
The answer is no! Gel and acrylic are essentially the same product. Acrylic is when you mix the polymer (powder) with the monomer (liquid) with your brush to make the artificial nail. Gel is premixed, in a gel state and just needs to be picked up and applied. Acrylic sets up by itself and gel has to have a UV light in order to finish the process of setting up.
Nail products have come a long way since the first dentist decided to see if they could fix a nail with their product. Scientists and chemists in conjunction with nail techs have spent many year perfecting our product to make them smell less, be stronger, and stay on longer, but also to come off when ready. It's an uneducated or uncaring nail tech who can hurt your nails, not the product! The product is just a coat of armour for your nails that we get to make pretty!
So...unless you're marooned, there is no reason to be ungroomed.
