Incontinence – What you need to know

“Gotta Go, Gotta Go, Gotta Go, Gotta Go….”  Anyone else remember that commercial?  It's an American ad selling a prescription drug to help with frequent trips to the bathroom.  Sensitive Bladder, Overactive Bladder and Bladder Leakage are all terms used to describe urinary issues.  Although both men and women can be affected, it is a very common issue in women's health.  In fact 33% of women will experience the stress type of urinary incontinence at some point in their lives.  For such a common issue, it is still somewhat of a taboo topic of discussion.  You won't see too many people hanging around the adult incontinence product department of your local pharmacy.

Urinary incontinence is a loss of bladder control.  It ranges in severity from little leaks to a sudden and severe urge to urinate that hits so fast that you don't have time to get to the toilet before there is an accident.

Urine leakage can be broken down into several categories depending on cause.  These categories include: Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI), Urge Incontinence (UI), Mixed Incontinence and Functional Incontinence.

Stress Incontinence is by far the most common type of urine leakage experienced by women.  It happens when the pelvic floor muscles that support the bladder have become weakened.  This weakening could be due to pregnancy or childbirth.  When we laugh, cough, do jumping jacks, or bounce on a trampoline, this increases pressure on the bladder and the pelvic floor muscles are unable to tighten enough to keep all of the urine in.  This results in a small amount of urine leakage.  Non-drug treatments like physiotherapy and Kegel exercise can have a major impact on this type of incontinence.

Urge incontinence is also known as overactive bladder.  The exact cause of this type of leakage is not known but is thought to involve signals to the brain indicating that the bladder is fuller than it is.  These signals tell your bladder to let you know that you really “gotta go '.  The urge can be so strong that you are unable to make it to the bathroom in time.  The average person empties their bladder between 4 and 8 times a day.  If you find you need to go more often than this or that you are getting up frequently at night to go, then you may be experiencing urge incontinence.  There are some prescription options to help calm the signals so that they don't come so urgently or frequently.  These medications can help but won't completely eliminate the problem.

This is where finding a good incontinence product can make all the difference.  The pads and pull ups used for urine are different than maxi-pads used for feminine hygiene.  Incontinence products are meant to hold larger volumes of fluid and to help keep your skin dry and prevent odor.  At Cheetham's Pharmacy we can help with the selection and fit of these products.  We have access to special products not available to most pharmacies and retailers. We will sit down with you and determine your needs and give you samples to try before you make a purchase. Cheetham's Pharmacy is a good fit for your good fit.

Saskatoon Lingerie & Custom Bra Fittings Expert - Angela Craig

http://theexperts.ca/blog/2016/06/09/saskatoon-lingerie-custom-bra-fittings-expert-angela-craig/

LingerieExpert

A lot of comments going around that we only cater to the bodacious boobies.......VERY UNTRUE! We cater to the difficult to impossible to fit and that really captures the smaller bobbies as well. We will make you Bodacious. 28AA to 42A and 28 to 48 B, C, D. which are also hard sizes to find.

At our Market Mall location I am running into a common scenario. Ladies and girls coming in, that have been buying from department / chain / brand stores consider themselves an “average size”. They feel, “they do not need to shop with us”, are their comments as we are a specialty store. We cater to all sizes and let me share with you why.

Those stores do a very narrow size range and try to fit you into their bras instead of finding a bra that fits you!!!! For example a girl went all the way to Edmonton to shop for a 38B. She got really frustrated there and told me that she could not find anything. When we finished she was a half size and half cup wearing a 36 C/D or 38 B/C. BUT she was not an easy fit and we tried on I swear 40 bras until we found with her shape and breast position that she only works in a demi lift style bra, with no bump up and lots of under arm coverage to hold her breast  tissue forward.

Here is another super common one that comes into the store a lot.....”oh I am a 36DD at yadayada store downtown”. I am looking at the gal and say then you wear a size 12 dress if you are in that 36ish range. Of course they give me this horrified indignant look cause these gals usually are wearing a size 6 or smaller dress size. They end up being 30G's or 32F's in almost all cases. And the sega goes on for the bad fitting bra syndrome.

Most woman wear 2 bands too big 3 cups too small. So get professionally fit today by a PRIVATE boutique that has the experience and knowledge of bras.

My staff are trained as if we were going to make you a bra from scratch (which I do not do anymore, but did at one time). From my pattern making background and standards, I teach the girls to measure and fit. To look for all the fine nuances while fitting the bra. It is like having a well made dress or suit custom fit or really good pair of shoes.

Over the past few months of working in the Market Mall store, we are having many department / chain / brand store shoppers come in trying to self service themselves. Please let us serve you that is our job. Bra shopping is not a self service type experience as all stores have different brands, styles, fabrics and this changes the fit. Bras can be the exact same bra but they can differ from color to color and from batch to batch. Bras are still sewn by individuals so there is a 10% allowable standard within the industry in sizing. That 10% can be the difference between a cup or band size. I personally have 5 colours of one style and 3 are a 30F and 2 are 30G.

So do not get frustrated or mad at us when you go and try and shop elsewhere after being fit with us as a 32D and it does not fit the same 32D elsewhere.

Come have a boobalicious day with us!

Ask the Exceptional Custom Homes Expert – Tyler Lorencz

Questions to Ask a Builder

When you buy a new home you want to get full value for your investment. This means choosing an established and reputable builder-someone you can trust, someone who has the technical skills, a proven track record and a professional business approach.

Fortunately, there are many good builders around, and with a little effort you will have no trouble finding someone who is right for you. Before you enter into a contract with anyone, ask lots of questions to make sure it is the kind of company you want to do business with.

Is home building your profession? Home building is a serious business. It takes commitment to keep up with everything that is going on in the industry. It requires solid business skills and a track record of satisfied clients. If a “builder” proposes to build your home part-time, you should proceed with caution. If this builder offers you a “better” financial deal, you need to wonder. The old adage that you get what you pay for holds true for home buying as well.

What is your experience, and how long have you been in business? Good builders are proud of their track record, whether they have been in business for 3 or 30 years. They will tell you about their background, their training and experience, their strengths and what sets them apart from others. They will be honest with you about what they can do for you, when and for how much.

Are you a member of the Canadian Home Builders' Association (CHBA)? Membership in the Association is an indication of a builder's commitment to the industry, to the success of their own company and, ultimately, to their customers. Members agree to a Code of Ethics that calls for fair and honest dealings with consumers.

Are you a member of a home warranty program? Warranty programs provide additional protection for the home buyer's investment. In some regions, there is a variety of warranties available. Ask the builder to explain the details-you want the warranty that best meets your needs for both the short and the long term.

Will you give us references from your past clients? Contact past customers to find out how satisfied they are with their new home. Ask if the home was completed on budget and on time, what the builder was like to work with (easy to talk with, understanding, helpful), and about the company's after-sales service.

What after-sales service does your company provide? Professional builders stand behind their homes with an after-sales service program. Ask the builder to explain the program in some detail: what's covered, how to request service and the typical response time.

Can we visit your work site(s)? The work site offers many clues about the company and the quality of the builder's homes. Ask for a tour of a home under construction and a chance to meet the site crew. Take note of the details: is the site clean and orderly, are materials stored out of the weather, and so on.

Red Deer Hair Salon Expert – Shannon

Red Deer Hair Salon Expert – Shannon

Tangles Hair Studio

When is the last time you had a great experience at a salon? Does it matter how long the stylist has worked there? Do you want to feel welcome when you walk in and look amazing when you leave?

All of these things are important to me (Ann Bilyk). I have worked with Shannon (Owner) for 13 years as her Salon Manager. We have an amazing group of stylists who have been employed with us for multiple years. Tangles Salon and Spa is a Red Deer Hair salon above the rest because of our great group accomplishments with incredibly talented stylists who are always achieving more.

In 2003, I received my Red Seal Journeyman Hairstylist License. Creating styles for Men from the traditional Caesar Cut, to Fades and Flat Tops along with Ladies Designs from Short Crops, to Bobs, to Long Hair and Modern Looks of disconnected cuts, this is only an introduction to my passion of hair. If you struggle with natural curl, fine limp, or thick and heavy hair I'm your girl. Over the years I have completed various classes/courses mainly with Redken such as Color & Know Why, Redken Certified Haircolorist Program, Next Generation of Haircolor “Chromatics”, Long Hair Finishing & Styling, and multiple Redken Symposiums in Las Vegas and Montreal. Attending and working at the ABA (Allied Beauty Association) also provided education and information on a larger scale from various platform artists and vendors of new looks, products, and creations. I also had the opportunity to attend and complete the Summit Business College in Minneapolis in June of 2007 and a refresher in 2015. This college was designed for Salon and Spa day to day operations and has been a huge benefit to our Salon and Spa's long term success. We also offer an apprenticeship program in our salon to which I have had the pleasure of educating and training new stylists into our industry from the ground up to them receiving their Red Seal Journeyman Hairstylist License.

Have you ever wanted longer hair but just can't seem to grow it? I completely understand. How about hair extensions? I do all of the following: Clip-In, Tape-In, Heat Fusion (Most Popular), Single Bond-In, and Bond-In Hair Wefts. Call to book in for a free consultation and we'll go over all your options and help you understand the care of having extensions prior to installation.

Along with doing hair, I also became a Nail Technician in 2004 and just three years later, I became a NSI (Nail Systems International) Canada Educator. That's right, I teach in my spare time. I offer Gel and Acrylic Certified classes along with a variety of Nail Art Classes. Check out my website at www.nailsbyanneducation.com or my Facebook Page: Nails by Ann Red Deer. Upon completion of my classes, you will have continuous support from me and the company I teach with and will receive a universal certificate for here in Canada. I strongly believe when teaching others, the most important thing to remember is how the client feels about your work when you're done. This is true in hair, nails and all customer service which is why I focus on hands on education first then book knowledge education. In 2014 I attended the NSI Educator Seminar in Philadelphia. I toured the factory, met the chemist, owner, and NSI Educators from all over the world and received training by NSI's top Nail Educators. At that time NSI also launched their new “Secrets” line. NSI now offers six different nail products to accommodate everyone's needs. If you are interested in having artificial nails put on call Tangles at 403-342-4222 to book in today. For class information Call me at Tangles or contact me through my website or Facebook. To see the services offered at Tangles Hair Salon & Spa visit our websitehttp://www.tangleshairandspa.ca/
